Giving Tuesday originated in the US as a bit of an antidote to the frenzied buying of Black Friday. You’ll have lots of opportunities to support important causes today with the click of a button and your credit card information. Please also think about items around your home and office that are no longer useful to you or your organization but could make a world of difference to a family or charity in your community.
A wonderful feature of the circular economy is the opportunity to find and unlock value in goods that have completed their initial cycle of duty – but could, with a little elbow grease, be redeployed and put to use again.
Donations of used computers to reBOOT Canada become vital tools to Canadians learning remotely, embarking on a job search, starting their own small business and upgrading their skills. They get refurbished to a Microsoft standard and become available for use again through our reBOOT Canada social enterprise.
This Giving Tuesday, you may have more than money to give – please consider donating your unused computers and IT equipment to reBOOT Canada. You can fill out a form at www.rebootcanada.ca/donate.
You are also welcome to contribute to our work through a donation on the https://givingtueday.ca website – just search for ‘reBOOT Canada’ in the search field.
On the subject of giving – yesterday the federal government announced support of up to $200 for young learners to assist families coping with the impact of COVID-10 measures on students.
To further assist qualifying Ontario families, reBOOT Canada will offer free shipping on complete desktop computers until January 15th 2021, and while supplies last, to anywhere in Ontario. Simply complete the form at www.rebootcanada.ca/restart to begin the process.
