Yesterday was perfect weather for a road trip. Our man in Peterborough Lars and I started out at our Scarborough warehouse and headed west to Oakville to meet with Stephen Cull and Terry Bayley, the President and Executive Director, respectively, of Charterability (www.charterability.com). Here's a picture of (left to right) Terry, Stephen, John and Lars in front of a newly installed reBOOT Canada workstation, provided through our reSOURCE program.
Later that day, some great meetings with successful entrepreneurs running thoughtful businesses in Burlington
Apologies to Lars for skipping lunch again - we start creating an alert for that!
If your organization needs computers or other technology advice or support, we can help. Every 4 days, someone turns on a reBOOT Canada computer for the first time and gets connected. Apply through our reSOURCE form here.

They can also help you manage risk related to data equipment removal. It's a deep concern that reBOOT Canada's clients are disproportionately women and too often primary care givers and sole providers in a household that could comprise of an extended, multi-generational family.
We came across some important stats on the canadianwoman.org website that help frame the discussion here at home and consider equality in other parts of the world.
We also hope you take moment to think about and thank all the folks in your community who ask the uncomfortable questions, stand up for doing the right thing and help move us to a world where work and pay are distributed fairly.
Hope to see more stories like this CBC piece on the awesome Shannon Szabados.
Happy International Women's Day from the reBOOT Canada team!
This past week we completed the data capture for our assessment of the reCONNECT footprint with report from Montreal completed by one of our donors and volunteers.
We were pleased to see 13 long term care facilities and community centres still had operating computer centres, serving over 5,000 individuals since 2008, although many of the computer centres are and unable to make full use of present day internet access and applications.
Our reCONNECT reFRESH initiative is meant to address that, and we're actively seeking donations and corporate sponsorship to support a cross-country refresh of equipment, software and programming.
Here's how you can help:
A) Does your company have a charitable foundation interested in issues associated with an aging population and access? Send up a quick note at firstname.lastname@example.org
B) Have you ever donated computers to reBOOT Canada before? It's easy and you'll love the space it frees up - click here to schedule a pickup
C) Cash donations - of any amount - are very valuable to us because we can use it right away - click here to make a cash donation.
Thanks for your support and interest!
The reBOOT Canada Team
As a general rule, we like to get our emailed receipts out no more than 3 weeks after the donation has been received.
Well, due to some calendar year-end change over issues, our first receipts of 2015 may not arrive in your inbox until the end of this week or early next week. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience, don't hesitate to email
email@example.com if you have any concerns about the status of any of your receipts or questions to reBOOT Canada.
Thanks from the reBOOT Canada team and a happy Chinese New Year!

We're delighted to welcome the Rekai Centre at Sherbourne to our reCONNECT v2.0 network.
After meeting initially in December with their student nursing, programming and leadership team, Rekai Centre at Sherbourne and reBOOT Canada have made arrangements to create two computer centres within their facility, serving over 120 residents and using a combination of enhanced desktops and portable laptops. The workstations will be set up on accessible office furniture to accommodate a variety of needs of the residents at Rekai and configurations include webcams and over-sized monitors.
Congratulations to the Rekai Centre at Sherbourne. If you think your facility and your clients would benefit from a reBOOT Canada reCONNECT Computer centre too please contact me directly or through our form at www.rebootcanada.ca/resource.
reBOOT Canada would like to thank the Association of Registered Graphic Designers for help getting the word out about donating used computers. Through their membership, they're able to reach over 3,000 professionals and companies across the country in the computer-intensive graphic design industry and we very much appreciate it! With our partner Electronic Recycling Services, we'll arrange for pick up within the GTA and can evaluate pick ups beyond depending on volume. Your donation will be assessed and either streamed for responsible recycling out of the ERS facility or refurbishment for use in projects like the Rekai Centre reCONNECT project above. Right now we're calling for any and all used Apple products - contact us through www.rebootcanada.ca/recycle-donate and we’ll coordinate a pick up.
